Item 1) Akatsuki is not a training program. Why all the fics in which Sakura and/or Ino and/or Hinata and/or Tenten run off and join up to "get stronger"? I'll not go into how utterly brain-breaking the idea of any of them, Sakura especially, wanting to go rogue and join Akatsuki is all on its own.

Item 2) As there are more kunoichi in Konoha than just the aforementioned, it looks rather silly to start off your summary with "[t]he four Konoha kunoichi".

Item 3) Okay, author, let's say that Hinata finds a black baby in the woods upon returning from a mission and decides to raise it as hr own. Let's say that the baby in question is African. It is still not an African-American. Seriously.

Okay, I'm not usually the world's biggest ni-picker on spelling. And I can switch gears between American, Canadian, and British spelling systems without a problem.

But, for the love of all the gods in heaven, spell the characters' names right! Not sure? Check the show's website. Check IMDB, they're right more often than not. Google the actor's portfollio site. See what the rest of fandom is using. Because Smith* =/= Smithe. The former is correct; the latter typo reads to my ear, in comparison, as "Smithie". For. The. Entire. Story.

I will give props, though. When you added that parasite -e, you embraced it and used it throughout the story (or at least the parts I scanned). A point for consistency.

This may well be a perfectly cromulent term, but to me it just conjures up images of the characters hurling custard pies at one another and then getting emo about it.

This was started long, long time ago like in November of 1999 and I have just found it and I know I don't have much of it but it is a very short chapter. I'm not even sure if I will even finish it. I may just take my time with it and finish it when I can.

But here it is.

You know, unlike many posters here, I don't mind it when fangirls exercise their new Japanese skills by including words like "neko" and "iie" and "arigato" in their anime fanfics. I remember how much fun learning Japanese was and how I wanted to use the words all the time, and I don't begrudge them that.

But the start of your fanfic is where you grab readers' interest. And if I open up your story and find a glossary of Japanese words... well, let's just say you have *not* grabbed my interest.

Also, GET THEM RIGHT. The world is full of Japanese language resources. As bad as it is to put your glossary in the front of your fanfic, it's even *worse* when it contains words like "Wagata = all right." Since "waga" means "we" or "ours", I had to think hard to realize you *actually* meant "wakatta", which doesn't mean "all right", it means "I understand", although in context they use it as an acknowledgement the way we use "all right." Come on, seriously. You want to learn Japanese? LEARN IT. Don't make shit up based on what it sounds like and then post it in your glossary (which still doesn't belong in the start of your fanfic.)

(I will give you points for *having* a glossary. Some fanfic writers don't, and confuse the heck out of people who *don't* know that neko = cat. But don't make it the first thing I read, please; I want to be grabbed by your *story*, and a glossary, much like "Here is a list of my original characters and their superpowers", tells me "This is a story written by someone who doesn't know how to get the reader's attention", which often means "This is a lousy story.")

I was goofing around with kanji a bit and i suddenly noticed that the kanji for emperor's seal (璽) wasn't in RTK. It's listed in dictionaries as a jouyou kanji so what's up with that? I was rather astonished when i found this out because i was under the impression that RTK had all the jouyou kanji plus some extra ones.

Does anyone here know about other such jouyou kanji that don't show up in RTK?
